Milliken Creek Inn

Twelve adults-only suites on three creekside acres — Asian-influenced, breakfast-on-the-deck format.

Milliken Creek Inn is twelve adults-only suites on three creekside acres on the northeastern edge of Napa, run as a small adults-only property with a strong Asian-influenced country-estate aesthetic. The format is unusual — twelve rooms, no full restaurant, a "breakfast on the deck" service that's part of the rate, and the kind of quiet that's hard to find in the busier Napa Valley hotels.

The property's appeal is the size and the setting. Twelve rooms, three acres, a creek running along the boundary, mature redwoods and oaks. It's closer to a private guesthouse than a conventional hotel.

The setting

On Silverado Trail at the northern edge of the city of Napa, on Milliken Creek where it joins the Napa River. Downtown Napa is ten minutes south for restaurants; Yountville is fifteen minutes north for The French Laundry and the broader downtown-Yountville restaurant strip. The wineries of the Stags Leap District (Cliff Lede, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, Pine Ridge) are within fifteen minutes.

The drive from San Francisco is ninety minutes. Most guests are on a wine-country long weekend.

The building

A small main building with the lobby and dining areas, plus several smaller buildings holding the suites, all set on three acres of mature trees and gardens. The aesthetic blends country-estate (mature gardens, stone-and-timber outbuildings) with Asian-influenced interior moves (low platform beds, restrained palettes, lacquered finishes). Public spaces lean monastic-quiet.

The renovation has been gradual and the operation reflects long-running attention to small details.

The rooms

Twelve adults-only suites, each with a private deck or patio toward the creek or the gardens. Categories from "Garden" suites (around $595) up through Creekside Suites with private soaking tubs and direct creek frontage. Beds are kings, linens are heavy, bathrooms are full marble in the upper categories. Most suites have gas fireplaces; many have private outdoor tubs or showers.

The suites are dispersed across the property; they don't share corridors. Privacy is real, not nominal.

Food & drink

There's no full on-site restaurant. Breakfast is delivered to your suite or available on the main deck — multi-course, tied to the rate. Wine reception runs in the early evening in the main building. For dinner, downtown Napa is ten minutes by car (Oenotri, Bistro Don Giovanni, the Q Restaurant); Yountville is fifteen (Bistro Jeanty, Bottega, the French Laundry if you've planned ahead).
