Rustic Inn Creekside Resort

Family-owned log cabins on 12 creekside acres — spa, saltwater pool, 10 minutes to the town square.

Rustic Inn Creekside is a family-owned property on twelve creekside acres about ten minutes from Jackson's town square. A hundred and forty-three rooms across log cabins, lodge-style buildings, and a more recent spa-and-suite addition. It runs at a different scale from Jackson Hole's small inns and a different vocabulary from the Four Seasons up at Teton Village. It's been the family-resort answer in Jackson Hole for decades.

The property's shape — log cabins along the creek, two saltwater pools, a serious spa, a working trout stream — gives it a useful straddle. Big enough to accommodate a multigenerational trip, small enough to feel privately run.

The setting

On Flat Creek at the eastern edge of Jackson, on Highway 89 between the town and the National Elk Refuge. From the property's edge you watch the creek; in winter, you can see herd movements toward the refuge. The town square is ten minutes by free shuttle, less by car. Grand Teton National Park entrance is fifteen minutes north; Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at Teton Village is thirty minutes.

The drive in from Jackson Hole airport (JAC) is twenty minutes. For Yellowstone, count two hours to West Thumb.

The building

A campus rather than a building. Original log cabin units, a main lodge with stone-fireplace common spaces, and a more recent addition that contains the spa, larger suites, and a saltwater pool. The aesthetic stays consistent across the eras: stone, timber, pine and wool, a Western-sporting visual register without the kitsch.

It feels like a property that grew over time rather than getting master-planned, which lends it a certain charm and explains the variation in room categories.

The rooms

A hundred and forty-three rooms across cabin, lodge, and suite categories. The original cabins are smaller and rustic in the right way; the newer suites are larger, with fireplaces, soaking tubs, and balconies along the creek. Rates from around $545 in summer peak. Beds are queens and kings, linens are heavy, bathrooms in the newer building are upgraded. Some cabins have small front porches with creek views.

Ask about creekside placement when you book — not all units have water frontage.

Food & drink

No notable on-site fine dining. There's a casual cafe and bar on property for breakfast and a quick dinner. For real meals, you drive ten minutes into town: Snake River Grill, Glorietta, Persephone, the Bin22 wine bar, or the long-running Million Dollar Cowboy Bar for the Jackson cliché-on-purpose night.

On the property

The amenity stack is wide for an independent.

  • Two heated saltwater pools and three hot tubs (year-round)
  • Full spa with eleven treatment rooms
  • Trout fishing in Flat Creek (catch-and-release on the property)
  • Hiking and snowshoe trails along the creek
  • Free in-town shuttle
  • Open year-round

Who it's for

  • Multigenerational families who need pools, a spa, and walking trails on property
  • Couples who'd rather have creekside cabins than a downtown room
  • Skiers who don't mind the thirty-minute Teton Village shuttle (and the hot tub afterward)
  • Repeat Jackson Hole visitors who want the family-owned answer rather than the resort answer

Who it's not for

  • Travelers who want to walk to dinner — you shuttle or drive
  • Anyone looking for true ski-in, ski-out at Teton Village
  • Travelers who want a design-forward boutique feel

Nearby

Grand Teton National Park's southern entrance is fifteen minutes north. The Jenny Lake trailhead and the moose meadows along the inner park road are forty-five minutes. The National Elk Refuge — winter sleigh rides through the herd — runs December through March. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at Teton Village (and the tram up Rendezvous) is a thirty-minute drive. For dinner in town, Snake River Grill on the square has been the Jackson dining anchor for decades. Yellowstone's south entrance is a longer day, but doable.
