An adults-only 8-room inn on the Cape Cod Rail Trail — heated pool, loaner bikes, full breakfast.

Refined AmericanaHistoric InnMonastic · NatureClapboard & Porch

An adults-only eight-room inn in West Harwich on Cape Cod, set on a quiet stretch a half-mile from the Cape Cod Rail Trail and a few minutes from the Nantucket Sound beaches. Heated pool, loaner bikes, full breakfast, and the kind of innkeeping where someone you'll get to know by name pours your coffee.

The Cape's lodging market has plenty of vintage motor inns and plenty of corporate-resort beach hotels. The Platinum Pebble is the small, owner-operated middle — a B&B that's been updated, properly, for travelers who want quiet, walkability to the bike trail, and dinner reservations they can walk to.

The setting

The inn sits on Route 28 in West Harwich — the cottage-and-village stretch of the lower Cape, before you get to Chatham's main street or Hyannis's traffic. The Cape Cod Rail Trail runs north–south within walking distance; the inn lends bikes for the day. Sea Street Beach on Nantucket Sound is a 10-minute bike or 5-minute drive. Chatham Light is 20 minutes east; Provincetown is an hour and 15 up Route 6.

The drive in over the Sagamore Bridge from Boston is about an hour and 45 in non-summer traffic. Add an hour for July weekends.

The building

A clapboard, dormered, white-trim Cape — the standard vernacular — set back from Route 28 on a small landscaped lot. Eight guestrooms inside the main house, plus a couple of attached suites. The interior leans tasteful-traditional rather than design-magazine: floral textiles in some rooms, more contemporary in others, a sunny breakfast room, a small porch.

It's family-run. The innkeepers live on or adjacent to the property.

The rooms

Eight rooms across queen and king layouts. Most have private bathrooms; some have whirlpool tubs; a couple of suites have separate sitting areas. From around $425 in summer; off-season rates are notably lower. Bathrooms updated. The aesthetic is Cape-traditional — quilts, wicker, painted wood — without being heavy-handed.

Food & drink

Full breakfast is included — hot, made-to-order, served in the breakfast room or on the patio. There's no on-site dinner. The Platinum Pebble's neighborhood has a handful of dinners within five minutes — Brax Landing, the Port, and 400 East are within a short drive; Chatham's Squire and Impudent Oyster are 20 minutes east. Breakwater Fish & Lobster is 10 minutes for the takeout-on-the-beach option.

On the property

A small but used amenity stack — pool, bikes, a hot tub.

  • Heated outdoor pool, in season
  • Loaner bicycles for guests
  • Hot tub
  • Adults-only
  • Open year-round (with some off-season scheduling)

Who it's for

  • Couples doing a five-night Cape vacation who'd rather stay at a B&B than a hotel
  • Cyclists doing the Rail Trail
  • Repeat Cape visitors who've outgrown the timeshare-resort circuit
  • Travelers who value innkeeper recommendations over a corporate concierge

Who it's not for

  • Families — the inn is adults-only
  • Travelers wanting a beach-front room — this is in the village, not on the sand
  • Anyone needing a full-service amenity stack (room service, gym, restaurant)

Nearby

The Cape Cod Rail Trail is walking distance — bike to Brewster, Wellfleet, or south toward Dennis. Sea Street Beach (Nantucket Sound) is five minutes by car. The National Seashore beaches (Coast Guard, Marconi, Nauset Light) are 35–45 minutes north on Route 6. Provincetown is an hour and 15. Cape Cod Beer brewery in Hyannis is 20 minutes west.
