Hood River Hotel

A 1913 downtown hotel restored — 41 rooms, the heart of Hood River's brewery district.

Refined AmericanaNeo-VictorianaHistoric InnScholarly · HistoricBrass & Velvet

A 1913 downtown Hood River hotel restored as a 41-room boutique in the heart of the brewery and windsurf district. Brick exterior, pressed-tin ceilings in the lobby, and the kind of in-town walkable booking that connects to Pfriem, Double Mountain, and Full Sail without needing to drive. The Hood River Hotel is the in-town historic alternative to the chain hotels along I-84.

It's modest in scale, well-priced for the area, and the location does the work — three blocks of Hood River's restaurants and breweries are at the front door.

The setting

The hotel sits at 102 Oak Street in downtown Hood River, a half-block from Oak Street's restaurant and brewery row. Walking distance to Pfriem Family Brewers, Double Mountain Brewery, Full Sail's pub, the Mt. Hood Railroad depot, and the windsurfing put-in at the Hood River Marina. The Columbia River is two blocks north.

The drive in from Portland is an hour east on I-84; Mt. Hood and Timberline Lodge are 45 minutes south.

The building

A 1913 four-story brick hotel — pressed-tin lobby ceilings, original woodwork on staircases and trim, and the kind of early-20th-century commercial-hotel architecture downtown Hood River was built with. Materials are brick, brass, dark wood, and velvet. The lobby retains original detail; rooms upstairs have been renovated in stages.

Independently owned. The historic building is the property's narrative.

The rooms

Forty-one rooms across kings, queens, and a few suites. From around $195 in shoulder seasons; peak summer rates run higher. Bathrooms have been updated; furniture leans country-traditional. Some rooms face Oak Street (busy in summer); some face quiet sides. The aesthetic is restored-historic, not modern-boutique.

Food & drink

There's an on-site cafe for coffee and grab-and-go, but no destination restaurant. Walking distance to Hood River's full dining scene — Solstice Wood Fire Pizza, Celilo Restaurant, Pfriem (one of the better breweries in Oregon and a serious dining program), Double Mountain, Boda's Kitchen, and 3 Rivers Grill. The Mt. Hood Railroad depot lunch trains depart from a few blocks east.
