Hale Awapuhi Villa

Three suites on a North Shore garden estate — beachfront access, family-run.

Rustic AmericanaRestored FarmhouseMonastic · NaturePine & Wool

A three-suite villa on a North Shore Kauai garden estate, with beachfront access and a small footprint that puts you somewhere between a private rental and a small inn. Hale Awapuhi — Hawaiian for "ginger house" — is family-run and on the boundary between vacation rental and small lodging. Three suites, a shared garden, and a beachfront a short walk away.

It is one of the few small lodgings on Kauai's quieter east side, in Anahola.

The setting

Anahola sits on Kauai's northeast coast, between Kapa'a and Kilauea — the eastern North Shore, with a smaller and locals-leaning beach town vibe. The villa sits on a garden estate, with the Pacific a short walk away and Anahola Bay's beach park within reach. Hanalei is forty-five minutes north; Lihue and the airport are thirty minutes south.

This is the working-Hawaiian-community side of Kauai, less polished than Princeville and considerably quieter.

The building

A converted plantation-era farmhouse with three guest suites built into the property. Materials are clapboard, painted wood, and the simple board-and-batten construction that Hawaiian estates of the period favored. The aesthetic is quiet — pine-and-pikake, white linens, simple wood furniture. Not designer-resort.

The rooms

Three suites, each with a king bed, a private bath, a small kitchenette, and access to the shared garden and pool. Beds are kings; bathrooms are tile, with outdoor showers in some categories. From-rates open around $525 in season. Wi-Fi is fine; cell is normal.

Food & drink

There's no restaurant. Each suite has a kitchenette for in-room cooking; small pantries are stocked. For dinner, Kapa'a is fifteen minutes south for restaurants — Hukilau Lanai, Bistro at Coconut Beach, JO2 Natural Cuisine. Anahola Bay's beach park has a few simple food trucks.

On the property

A shared swimming pool, a garden, and a short walk to the beach. There's no spa, no gym, no full restaurant.
