Crowne Pointe Historic Inn
An 1800s sea captain's estate — 40 rooms, spa, heated pool, the adult Provincetown boutique.
Forty rooms in an 1800s sea-captain's estate at the quiet east end of Commercial Street — an adults-only Provincetown boutique with a heated pool and a small spa. Crowne Pointe runs as the more grown-up Provincetown option, away from the late-night bars but a short walk from the Boatslip and the heart of the town's social calendar.
The bones are Cape Cod sea-captain — clapboard, gabled rooflines, wide porches — extended over the years across several connected buildings on a single block. Public spaces lean Neo-Victorian, with the kind of brass-and-velvet detailing that the genre asks for, but the rooms have been kept up.
The setting
Provincetown is the small fishing town at the end of Cape Cod that became, over the second half of the twentieth century, the most important LGBTQ resort town on the East Coast. Commercial Street runs the length of town along the harbor — a mile-and-a-half strip of restaurants, galleries, bars, and shops. Crowne Pointe sits at the east end, where Commercial gets quieter and more residential.
The Boatslip, the Pied, and Tea Dance are a five-to-ten-minute walk west. Race Point Beach is a five-minute drive. Herring Cove Beach is fifteen minutes. The Provincetown Monument and the Pilgrim Museum are walkable.
The building
A connected compound of 1800s sea-captain houses and outbuildings on a single block, restored and joined over the years. Clapboard siding, gabled porches, painted shutters. Inside, the public spaces — the lobby, the parlor, the dining room — lean traditional with brass lighting, dark wood, and velvet upholstery.
The pool sits in a courtyard between the buildings; the spa is a small dedicated wing with a few treatment rooms. The whole property has been kept up steadily over decades, which is unusual on Commercial Street.
The rooms
Forty rooms across the connected buildings. Categories range from compact captain's-house rooms to large suites with fireplaces and private decks. Most rooms have updated bathrooms; many have whirlpool tubs. Some rooms have water views or partial harbor glimpses. The interiors lean traditional with quilts, four-poster beds, and the kind of wallpaper that's deliberate.
Rates start around $445 in shoulder, climbing significantly through summer. Carnival Week and the major Provincetown weekends see four-figure rates.
Food & drink
There's an on-site restaurant — Pointe Restaurant — serving dinner most nights, open to non-guests. A full breakfast is included for guests. Beyond the property, Commercial Street's restaurant density is high: The Mews, The Red Inn, Ross' Grill, Café Heaven, and a long list of casual options are within ten minutes' walk.
On the property
The heated outdoor pool is in the courtyard, surrounded by gardens and loungers. The on-site spa offers massage and a few treatment options — small but useful. Adults-only is enforced; this isn't a family property.
